The series #3 Sweep Gouges by Pfeil Swiss Made have a very gentle curve shape on the blade. These gouges are commonly used to carve your wood blank into a rough form, and for working on large areas. Use them to remove excess wood quickly, especially from a flat surface, where the corners of a flat chisel would dig in and get stuck. Sweep gouges also allow you to stop-cut around round objects and carve precise grooves and trenches.
